BOOK TWO ---------- BEING

FLASH FOUR: MANIFESTATION

In the first manifestation the Real Being revealed Himself, of Himself, to Himself.  Therein were realised the attributes of Knowledge, Light, Existence, and Presence.

.....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....

Knowledge involved the power of knowledge and being known.  Light involved the power of manifesting and of being manifest.

Existence and Presence entailed the power of of causing to exist and being existent.  Existence and Presence also entailed the power of beholding and being beheld.

.....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....

Thus the manifestation of Light is preceded by concealment.  Concealment, by its very nature, has the priority over, and is antecedent to, manifestation.

Hence the concealed and the manifested are counted first and second.

.....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....

And so in the case of the second and the third manifestations.  And so in the case of subsequent manifestations.

As long as it pleases God to continue them, the conditions and relations always go on redoubling themselves.

The more these are multiplied, the more complete is His manifestation, or rather His concealment.

.....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....

Glory be to Him who hides Himself by the manifestations of His light;  Glory be to Him who manifests Himself by drawing a veil over His face!

.....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....

His concealment has regard to His pure and absolute Being.  His manifestation has regards to the exhibition of the world of phenomena.

.....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....

When the sun's banner blazes in the sky
Its light gives pain by its intensity,
But when 'tis tempered by a veil of cloud
That light is soft and pleasant to the eye.
