FLASH SEVEN: COMMUNION

    So long as you remain imprisoned in the snare of passions and lusts, it will not be hard to maintain this close communion with Truth.

But -

    From the moment the sweet influence of close communion with Truth takes effect on you, expelling from your mind the fire-brand of vain imaginations and suggestions, the pleasure you will experience from this close communion will predominate over bodily pleasures;

    This pleasure will predominate over even intellectual enjoyments.

    Then the painful sense of effort will pass away.  The joys of contemplation will take possession of your mind.

.....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....                    .....

    You will then banish from your heart all alien distractions.  With the tongue of ecstasy you will murmur this canticle:

"Like the bulbul I am inebriate with Thee,

"My sorrows grow from memories of Thee,

"Yet all earth's joys are dust beneath the feet

"Of those entrancing memories of Thee!"

    These are the beginnings of Divine attraction.  When you experience pleasure whenever you think of the TRUTH, exert all your endeavour to develop and strengthen this experience.

Simultaneously banish whatever is incompatible therewith.

    Even though you should employ an eternity in cultivating this communion, that would count as nothing.  You would not have discharged your duty as you ought.

On my soul's lute a chord was struck by Love,

Transmuting all my being into love;

Ages would not discharge my bounden debt

Of gratitude for one short hour of love!
