BOOK TWO ---------- BEING FLASH FIVE: UNITY AND SINGLENESS The first self-revelation of the Real Being is a pure Unity and a simple potentiality (possibility) - {Whinefield translates the original word as 'potentiality'. This is to be understood in the sense of 'possibility', which seems a more appropriate word, as suggested by Professor Houben} This contains all potentialities: This contains the potentiality of being unconditioned by modes and qualities; This also contains the potentiality of being conditioned by them. ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... The first self revelation is termed the stage of UNITY - AHADIYYAT. It possesses CONCEALMENT, PRIORITY, and EXISTENCE from eternity. This is a stage when Being is viewed as unconditioned by modes and qualities, including even the potentiality of being thus unconditioned. ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... When viewed as conditioned by modes and qualities, the same stage is termed SINGLENESS - Wāhidiyyat. In this aspect it is marked by MANIFESTATION, POSTERIORITY, AND DURATION to all eternity. ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... Among the modes of the stage SINGLENESS some are such that the quallification of the One Being by them has regards to the stage called the "WHOLE". Such modes imply the realisation in the universe of things corresponding to the names CREATOR, SUSTAINER, etc. These modes may also imply merely attributes such as LIFE, KNOWLEDGE, and WILL. This is the class of attributes which pertains to the DIVINITY and the SOVEREIGNITY. ___________________________________________ |
